Thankfully, driving is still good fun, even without 15 other racers munching on your heels. We wouldn’t say it completely ruined those events, but the wheel-to-wheel racing spirit faded a little later in the game. However, as things progress and the tracks become more complex, AI can stumble, and we often find ourselves ahead of the pack after the AI pile-up begins long ago. Most of the said events focus on the standard race against a pack of AI bots, which feels pretty balanced once the campaign begins. In fact, they all have their own list of events to deal with in a season-like format. However all vehicle classes are heavily featured throughout the campaign. That’s okay, all available classes are still fun to drive, but we wanted to say right out of the gate that your mileage may vary with Legends if quads and buggies will generally be your vehicle type. Using any four-wheeled vehicle is a very simple matter, and the game’s more detailed physics are clearly built around two-wheeled racing. However, most of these tutorials only really make a difference when it comes to riding a bike.

They also teach you how to handle bike physics by leaning into corners and using the rider’s weight to toss vehicles around and shave off precious extra seconds from lap time. These mini missions teach you the basics of jumping, landing, doing stunts and everything else, and they’re pretty straight forward if a little laborious. Upon loading Legends, you’ll be tasked with running tutorials before tackling the game’s main career mode. There is one clear emphasis though, and that is the MX, the two wheeler class. Legends is a more focused affair with a fairly linear carrier mode that spans all three vehicle types – MX, ATV and UTV. ATV Legends to see how things have evolved since then.
